Sometimes one ordinary moment changes the course of an entire life. This is the story of "The Empty Chair" and how it became a powerful reminder that our greatest transformation begins the moment we decide to stop waiting for someone else to save us.
There are moments in life that don't seem extraordinary while they're happening.
No dramatic music.
No audience.
No applause.
Just silence.
For me, that moment came in front of an empty chair.
I remember looking at it and realizing something that stopped me in my tracks.
I had spent years waiting.
Waiting for someone else to change.
Waiting for someone else to choose differently.
Waiting for someone else to become who I hoped they could be.
Waiting for circumstances to improve.
Waiting for life to begin again.
And while I was waiting...
Life kept moving.
That empty chair became a mirror.
It reflected something I hadn't wanted to admit.
I had been leaving my own seat empty.
I was showing up for everyone else.
Fighting for everyone else.
Believing in everyone else.
But I wasn't showing up for me.
That realization hurt.
But it also became the beginning of my freedom.
People often think healing begins when we leave a relationship.
For me, healing began when I stopped leaving myself.
Every boundary I set.
Every promise I kept.
Every difficult decision I made.
Every morning I got back up.
I was slowly pulling out that empty chair...
And sitting in it again.
Not because life had become easy.
Because I finally understood that I deserved a place at my own table.
Today, whenever I speak, write, coach, or create a new resource, I think about that chair.
Somewhere, another woman is sitting in hers.
Wondering if she's enough.
Wondering if she'll ever feel like herself again.
Wondering if peace is possible.
If that's you...
I want you to know something.
The chair is still waiting.
Not for someone else.
For you.
Because the greatest transformation doesn't begin the day someone loves us differently.
It begins the day we decide to stop abandoning ourselves.
Healing begins the moment we stop waiting for someone else to change and start becoming the woman we've been waiting for.
That has become one of the guiding truths of my life, and it's at the heart of everything I teach.
