From Surviving to Reclaiming Myself, and Helping Women Do the Same

Hi, I'm Shawni McDonald.

I've lived it. I've healed through it. Now I teach other women how to do the same using evidence-based tools, practical strategies, and compassionate guidance.

Mother | Survivor | Certified Life Coach | Author | Mindset Mentor | CBT Educator

I help women move beyond emotional survival using CBT-informed mindset tools, emotional regulation strategies, self-trust work, and practical personal growth resources.

I'm so glad you're here.

If you've been carrying the weight of emotional exhaustion, self-doubt, anxiety, unhealthy relationships, people-pleasing, or the feeling that you've lost yourself somewhere along the way, you've found a space where growth begins with compassion, not perfection.

This is more than a website.

It's a supportive space created for women who are ready to better understand themselves, recognize unhealthy patterns, strengthen their mindset, rebuild self-trust, and create a life rooted in clarity, confidence, healthier boundaries, and greater emotional peace.

You don't have to have everything figured out to begin.

You just have to be willing to start with yourself.

My Mission

I help women understand unhealthy patterns, rebuild self-trust, challenge limiting thoughts, and create healthier emotional responses using practical, CBT-informed mindset tools.

Because when we change the way we think, we can begin changing the way we respond, the choices we make, and the lives we create.

My goal isn't simply to help us feel better for a moment.

It's to help us develop the self-awareness, emotional skills, healthier boundaries, and self-trust that support meaningful, lasting personal growth.

A life with more clarity.

More confidence.

More emotional freedom.

And more peace.

My Story

Raised in Stockton, California, I learned early that resilience is often built through some of life's most difficult seasons.

But it was motherhood, heartbreak, betrayal, emotional trauma, abuse, divorce, and rebuilding my life as a single mother that ultimately transformed my purpose.

For a long time, I knew how to keep going.

I knew how to show up.

I knew how to take care of everyone around me.

What I had to learn was how to stop abandoning myself in the process.

Those experiences taught me one of the most important lessons of my life:

The greatest transformation begins when a woman learns to trust herself again.

I began learning more about my thoughts, my emotional patterns, my boundaries, and the beliefs I had carried for years.

I learned to question the thoughts that kept me stuck.

To recognize patterns instead of only focusing on potential.

To listen to myself.

To honor what I felt.

To make difficult decisions.

And slowly, one choice at a time, I began rebuilding my confidence, reclaiming my voice, and creating a life that felt like my own again.

The practical tools and concepts I share today are deeply connected to what I learned throughout my own rebuilding journey, along with the CBT-informed education, mindset strategies, and coaching tools that now shape my work.

Today, I use what I've lived and learned to help other women better understand themselves and begin rebuilding the relationship that can change everything:

The relationship they have with themselves.

My Why

For Me. For My Children. For Every Woman I Hope to Inspire.

My why became bigger than simply moving forward from what I had been through.

First, I did it for me.

I wanted my life back.

My confidence.

My voice.

My peace.

My finances.

I wanted to look in the mirror and recognize the woman looking back at me, not necessarily as the woman I was before everything happened, but as the woman I was intentionally choosing to become.

Then, I thought about my children.

I realized they weren't only listening to what I said about strength, self-respect, boundaries, and choosing better.

They were watching how I lived it.

I wanted them to see that starting over isn't always failure.

That we are allowed to make difficult changes when something no longer supports the life we are trying to build.

That we can learn from our choices without allowing our past to define our future.

And that loving other people should never require us to completely lose ourselves.

I wanted to show them what it looks like to do the work, keep learning, rebuild, and choose a healthier path forward.

Then my why grew again.

It became about her.

The woman quietly questioning herself.

The woman who has spent years pouring into everyone else.

The woman wondering why she still misses someone who hurt her.

The woman who keeps seeing potential while ignoring patterns.

The woman who looks strong to everyone around her but knows she has lost pieces of herself along the way.

I want her to know she isn't broken.

She isn't weak because healing has been difficult.

And her story does not have to end where the pain happened.

If sharing what I've lived, what I've learned, and the practical tools that helped me rebuild can give another woman language for what she's experiencing, help her trust herself a little sooner, or remind her that she is still capable of creating a beautiful life, then this work has purpose.

For myself, I chose to rebuild.

For my children, I chose to lead by example.

For women, I choose to share what I've learned.

That's my why.

How We Grow Together

Healing and personal growth shouldn't leave us with more information but no idea what to do next.

That's why every book, workbook, guided journal, digital tool, online course, coaching resource, and educational experience I create is designed with one goal:

To help turn self-awareness into practical action.

Together, we explore how to:

💛 Manage emotional overwhelm and develop practical coping and grounding tools

🌿 Recognize unhealthy relationship patterns and better understand toxic relationship dynamics

🧠 Challenge unhelpful thoughts and limiting beliefs using CBT-informed techniques

Rebuild self-worth, confidence, and self-trust

🤍 Create healthier boundaries without constantly over-explaining or abandoning ourselves

🌱 Navigate divorce, difficult life transitions, and personal growth with greater clarity

🧘 Strengthen emotional regulation, mindfulness, and inner stability

💭 Understand our triggers, thoughts, and survival patterns

❤️ Learn how to choose ourselves without believing we're selfish for doing it

My work has grown into books, courses, workbooks, practical tools, coaching resources, and the Rise & Reset Community, a growing space where women can feel supported as they move beyond survival mode and toward calmer, clearer, more confident lives.

You don't need every tool at once.

You simply need the right next step for where you are today.

My Approach

Healing and personal growth don't have to feel impossible to understand.

My approach draws from CBT-informed mindset tools, mindfulness, emotional regulation, neuroscience-informed education, self-awareness practices, and compassionate coaching to make personal growth feel simple, practical, and sustainable.

No complicated psychology.

No impossible expectations.

No pretending change happens overnight.

Just practical tools to help us recognize our patterns, challenge unhelpful thoughts, strengthen emotional skills, respond more intentionally, and create meaningful change one step at a time.

I believe information is most powerful when we can actually use it in real life.

In the difficult conversation.

During the emotional trigger.

When we're tempted to ignore the pattern.

When we're second-guessing a decision.

When setting the boundary feels uncomfortable.

That's where the real work happens.

And that's where practical tools matter.

My Promise

At the heart of everything I create is one simple belief:

Every woman deserves the opportunity to feel emotionally safer, mentally stronger, deeply connected to her sense of self, and more at peace with the life she's creating.

Your past may explain some of your patterns.

It does not have to make every decision about your future.

Personal growth isn't about becoming a completely different person.

Sometimes, it's about learning to hear yourself again beneath the fear, self-doubt, people-pleasing, and survival patterns you've carried for years.

We don't have to have everything figured out.

We don't have to change our entire lives overnight.

We only need the willingness to take the next honest step.

And sometimes, that step is finally deciding:

It's time to start with me.

It Starts With You

I Became the Woman I Could Always Count On.

For years, I spent so much of my time, energy, love, and resources investing in everyone around me.

I showed up.

I carried more.

I gave more.

I kept trying to make life better for the people I loved.

Then I realized something that changed my life:

I deserved that same investment from me.

It was time for a major shift.

Not another temporary reset.

Not another promise to put myself first "one day."

I needed to start with myself.

So I chose better.

I chose myself.

I began investing in my mind, my emotional well-being, my self-respect, and my growth.

I learned to better understand my patterns.

Strengthen my boundaries.

Listen to my own voice.

Trust my observations.

Make clearer decisions.

And stop waiting for someone else to create the life I wanted for me.

I became the woman I could count on to help make my own life better.

Today, that belief is at the heart of every book, workbook, CBT-informed tool, course, and resource I create for women.

Because your worth was never the problem.

You don't need to become more valuable.

But you can become more equipped.

More self-aware.

More emotionally skilled.

More confident in your decisions.

More connected to your values.

And more capable of intentionally creating a life that reflects the woman you want to be.

Respect your mind.

Honor your body.

Protect your peace.

Strengthen your sense of self.

Become a woman you trust.

Become a woman you respect.

Become the woman you would look up to.

Start with yourself. Choose better. Choose you.

I did. And it changed my life.

Welcome.

I'm honored to walk this journey with you.
